  • The difference between the present way you speak English and the Standard English way
  • The background and history of Standard English

You will practice reading and speaking in (Standard English). You can record the sessions.

Speak English Clearly Course - Information

The course includes the 95 page A4 book, the 3CD Box set and a 20 minute follow-up training session on Skype or landline telephone. You can chose when you want to have the follow-up training.
People on the course have to be using English in their working lives or Post Graduates who've taken their exams in English. Of course there are varying levels of frustration within each group, but really, the levels are discernible only in that some people have more awareness of the areas that they need to work on.
The course is carefully structured. The first thing is to encourage you to understand how your voice connects to your thought. The muscles that you use to create Standard English sounds are different to those that you use to connect to another language/dialect. The breath is also used in a different way. This process and the exercises that go with this stage are fun and help us all laugh and relax. We then move through all the sounds of Standard English. At the end of the second day each person gives a short presentation. You may instead choose to be interviewed. By this time, everyone knows the particular sounds they need to work on and which sounds create the rhythmic quality ofStandard English.
You will get a good grounding in Standard English. With the aid of the CDs and book you have the resources to continue to develop. If you ever need help with particular words, you will have the phonetic symbols to find out how these words are pronounced.
